Players* who wish to be a part of the football academy will be selected through a trial to be conducted at the end of May, where Manuel “Manolo” Ruiz, a former Real Madrid title-winning assistant coach, will be leading the selection of players and conducting a football camp. The 59-year-old Spanish tactician was most recently head coach of CD El Ejido FC in 2019, which compete in the Spanish Segunda División RFEF Group V. He brings with him vast experience in working with footballers at the highest level in Spain as well as in Turkey.

Students progressing to Year 10 and A-level in September 2022 will be eligible for selection for the Elite Football Academy. Physical Education will be one of the subjects offered for IGCSE and A-Level, where football will be the main sport, with quality coaching from Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) licensed coaches.

Additionally, for wholesome education of the students, Southampton’s values will be implemented at every stage of the process to allow for the development of the human aspect of the athlete together with their sporting abilities. These values are aspiration, respect, unity, creativity and accountability.

JAFFERY ACADEMY ELITE SPORTS ACADEMY

 

Nairobi Jaffery Academy is starting an Elite Sports Academy Program powered by Southampton Football Club. The program will look to incorporate the Southampton Way in its methodology with the objective of developing high performing athletes, while covering a wide range of sports, including football, basketball, netball, volleyball, table tennis and cross country.
