Finance Manager

Nairobi Jaffery Academy, an International school offering Cambridge Curriculum and running from Kindergarten to A-Level is looking to engage a Finance Manager to join our winning team. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the successful candidate for this key function will be responsible for managing the accounting and reporting functions focusing on:


  • High quality and efficiency of service;

  • Ensuring compliance with all local accounting, social & tax requirements;

  • managing the financial activities of the company and give strong support to senior management; all while,

  • Respecting NJA accounting policies and reporting rules;

Core Responsibilities:


The Finance Manager will support the management team by offering insights and financial advice that will allow them to make the best business decisions for the School. As a crucial member of the finance team, the job includes but not limited to:

  • Collecting, interpreting and reviewing financial information and predicting  future financial trends;

  • Producing financial reports related to budgets, account payables, account receivables, etc.;

  • Managing the day to day activities and transactions and lead the monthly closing cycle;

  • Developing long-term business plans based on these reports;

  • Managing the budget planning process;

  • Developing strategies that work to minimize financial risk;

  • Ensure accurate payroll information and follow-up of the outsourced payroll provider;

  • Having responsibility of tax, e-archive, e-invoice processes and e-ledger obligations including preparing the VAT and tax declarations



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or relevant field;

  • Qualified accountant (CPA/ACCA or equivalent) with relevant experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar role (experience working in a school set up will be an added advantage).


In addition to the formal qualifications, we are looking for individuals with the following qualities:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate with a wide variety of   stakeholders

  • A high level of competence in Excel and good exposure to different accounting systems

  • Good analytical skills and a positive approach to problem solving

  • Negotiation skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships

  • Commercial and business awareness

  • A keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data

  • Ability to stick to time constraints
