People Operations Manager

Nairobi Jaffery Academy, an International school offering IGCSE Curriculum from Kindergarten to A-Level is looking to engage a People Operations Manager to join our winning team.

The People Operations Manager will assist in the development and implementation of excellent HR service to the School. Reporting to the Head of Operations, the post will support and drive a number of strategic and operational HR initiatives.


Core Responsibilities:

  • The ideal candidate will play a key role in the development and implementation of HR initiatives including an enhanced Performance Management and Development System and Key Performance Indicators based on best international benchmarks for HR operations in exemplary schools, all in line with the Schools Strategic Plan.

  • Continuously assess and identify optimal solutions that meet the needs of the HR functions by recommending process improvements, system enhancements, and alternatives based on specific needs, in order to ensure efficiency and seamless delivery of services to all present, past, and future customers of the School.

  • Coordinate HR activities to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, policies, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements and supports in resolving human resource problems, interpreting HR policies and procedures, and recommends effective courses of action.

  • Coordinate yearly processes including year-end closing, contract rollovers, yearly rate, and pay schedule adjustments, work year calendars, employee development, and training activities, staffing, etc.

  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills, combined with impeccable business judgment and the ability to communicate with cross-school/academics teams, staffing, and other partners.

  • Strong intellectual horsepower, effective interpersonal skills, positive attitude, strong work ethics, high level of cultural adaptability and flexibility.

  • Ability to work effectively in a highly diverse team, to thrive with ambiguity, and to work with different teams of educationalists, designers, vendors, and partners and maintain confidentiality at all times.

  • Conversant with Kenyan labor laws, Employment, and Education Act, and able to interpret and incorporate HR policies and procedures into practice.

  • Ability to present information and make recommendations effectively in oral and written form

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with persons within and outside the organization.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management or related field

  • Member of IHRM

  • At least three years of experience in a Human Resources department - experience working in a school or education set up will be an added advantage
